In 2026, the Marzetti brand is celebrating its 130th anniversary.
Teresa Marzetti and her husband Joseph arrived in the United States from Florence, Italy in 1896 and opened a small, Italian restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. After Joseph’s death in 1911, Teresa was left to run the restaurant on her own. She grew Marzetti’s to become a local favorite, especially among The Ohio State University students, and soon earned a four-star distinction and the reputation of being one of the finest dining experiences in the Midwest.
While all the food Teresa served made Marzetti’s a popular restaurant, it was the creamy Coleslaw and French dressings that were the talk of the town. In 1919, she started bottling and selling the dressings.
By 1955, Teresa’s dressings had become so renowned that the upstairs of the restaurant became a full-scale factory. Soon after, the Marzetti brand of salad dressings found its way into grocery stores throughout Ohio and beyond.
In 1969, the Marzetti family sold the business to Lancaster Colony Corporation. After Teresa’s death in 1972 the restaurant closed forever, but her passion lives on in her eponymous line of dips and dressing. In 2025, Lancaster Colony was renamed The Marzetti Company to honor Teresa’s legacy of flavor and quality.

Throughout the years, the Marzetti brand has expanded to include a broad portfolio of refrigerated salad dressings and dips. Our retail lineup includes craveable classics such as Classic Ranch, Chunky Blue Cheese, Supreme Caesar and Sweet Italian, alongside bold and on-trend flavors like Honey French and Avocado Green Goddess.
In our foodservice segment, we sell Marzetti sauces and dressings in a variety of formats to meet restaurant operators’ needs. Items like Avocado Ranch, Sweet Chili, Mango Habanero, and Sriracha Bourbon complement our lineup of more traditional flavors.
Many of our dressings are intentionally versatile, working not only as salad dressings but also as flavorful dips for vegetables, wings, pizza and more. This range allows us to appeal to both loyal fans of traditional flavors and those looking to elevate everyday meals with something fresh and distinctive.
