Corporate Responsibility at The Marzetti Company

Corporate Responsibility

at The Marzetti Company

In our corporate responsibility efforts, we align operational excellence with responsible business practices, regulatory compliance, and environmental and social stewardship to support our employees and communities, serve our customers, provide transparency to investors, and engage collaboratively with government entities and industry partners.

Performance and Disclosure Topics

Through benchmarking assessments and engaging with our stakeholders, we identify corporate responsibility topics that potentially impact our company, environment, and society. We examine the priorities of customers and investors, as well as industry-specific sustainability frameworks, management perspectives, supplier assessments, and feedback from customers and consumers.

We disclose aspects of our environmental and social compliance performance through recognized reporting and assessment frameworks, including CDP, the Sedex Member Ethical Trade Audit program (SMETA), and EcoVadis.

We are pleased to share our approach to five key topics:

Climate and Emissions

Climate and Emissions

As a food manufacturer, we recognize the importance of responsible environmental stewardship and the need to manage our operational impacts effectively. We measure and monitor key environmental metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, water usage, and waste generation, to support informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

We also conduct environmental aspects and impacts analyses to better understand the potential environmental effects associated with our operations and to guide mitigation and continuous improvement efforts. Our environmental governance and disclosure practices are informed by established reporting and risk-management frameworks, including climate-related governance and disclosure principles aligned with TCFD-style reporting approaches.

Through these efforts, we work to strengthen environmental performance, support compliance with applicable federal and state requirements, and advance responsible resource management across our operations.

We continuously monitor our environmental footprint for emissions, energy, and waste impacts, adopting a mitigation and continuous improvement mindset. When we identify compliance-related environmental risks, we implement mitigation strategies and alternative operating models.

Human Rights & Social Responsibility

Human Rights & Social Responsibility

Respect and dignity are fundamental values at Marzetti, and they are the pillars of our work to uphold, respect, and safeguard human rights, both in our own business operations and our relationships with other parties.

As an employer, we are committed to providing a work environment free from discrimination and harassment, and to offering equal employment opportunities to applicants and current employees. We comply with applicable labor and employment laws and strive to provide a safe and inclusive workplace that advances the well-being and professional growth of our team members.

Whether in our own operations or in our supply chain, we do not engage in or tolerate the use of forced labor or the unlawful employment or exploitation of children in the workplace, and we require team members and vendors to immediately report any violations. We reiterate this commitment through our annual reports under Canada’s Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, and California’s Transparency in Supply Chains Act. As a Sedex member, we are committed to sourcing responsibly and improving ethical standards and working conditions within the supply chain.

Extended Product Responsibility (EPR) & Packaging Compliance

Extended Product Responsibility (EPR) & Packaging Compliance

We recognize growing expectations from governmental and commercial partners for companies to evaluate and manage environmental impacts across product lifecycles, including advancing circular economy principles that promote the recovery, recycling, and reuse of packaging materials. These expectations continue to evolve through expanding Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws and related packaging regulations across multiple states.

Given the complex and cross-functional nature of EPR compliance, we maintain active internal governance and cross-functional working teams to oversee packaging reporting, regulatory compliance, data management, and implementation strategies across the business. We also engage with industry associations, external advisors, and subject matter experts to support regulatory monitoring, packaging compliance, reporting, and responsible packaging innovation.

Our dedication to community is exemplified in our investments to support education, combat poverty, enhance health and well-being, and alleviate hunger. By partnering with Marzetti team members, like-minded collaborators, and dedicated non-profits, we remain steadfast in pursuing a better tomorrow.

Philanthropy & Community Engagement

Philanthropy & Community Engagement

Marzetti is proud to invest and nourish growth in the communities where our employees live and work. We focus on partnerships that address improving access to nutritious meals, advancing health outcomes, increasing workforce readiness, and furthering economic stability. We also extend our impact by donating finished products to meet community needs while reducing waste.

Caring for our communities starts with caring for our people. Through our Marzetti Better Together Fund, we provide tax‑exempt grants to support team members during unexpected hardships. Additionally, we encourage employees’ engagement in giving back year‑round through volunteering, charitable contributions, and employee‑led partnerships—reinforcing care, resilience, and shared responsibility across our organization.
